ACCRA, Ghana — Apostle General Sam Korankye Ankrah and his wife, Apostle Mrs Rita Korankye Ankrah, have opened up about the faith, friendship, forgiveness and deliberate choices that have sustained their marriage for four decades.

The founders and leaders of Royalhouse Chapel International shared their experiences during a special edition of the Family Life Series on Powerline TV, marking their 40th wedding anniversary. The programme celebrated “four decades, one covenant, a lifetime of grace and love.”

Reflecting on their journey, Mama Rita said they entered marriage young and without fully understanding what lay ahead.

“We married very young. We married not knowing the full details of marriage,” she said. “We said to ourselves, this journey is a one-way ticket.”

She explained that experience taught her that romantic love by itself is insufficient for a lasting marriage.

“Love is important, but love doesn’t carry you 40 years down the line,” she said, identifying wisdom, forgiveness, communication, character and friendship among the qualities couples must intentionally develop.

Apostle General emphasised the spiritual foundation of their union, highlighting salvation, prayer, the Holy Spirit and God’s Word as key ingredients that strengthened their relationship.

The couple also stressed friendship and communication. Apostle General revealed that after 40 years, they still speak frequently—even calling each other while travelling separately until they arrive home.

Mama Rita added that couples must grow beyond the desire to win every disagreement.

“You don’t need to win every argument by all means,” she advised. “Some things, just let it go.”

Their testimony offered a central message: enduring marriage is built intentionally through faith in God, friendship, communication, respect, humility, forgiveness and continual growth.
