Teshie, Accra – Friday, August 7, 2026 – Founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, has challenged church leaders and believers to build strong, well-resourced institutions that will endure for generations rather than settling for weak and dependent ministries.
Delivering his sermon during the Day 5 Morning Session of Greater Works Conference 2026, Pastor Otabil declared that the Church must pursue institutional excellence and long-term capacity.
“The church cannot be poor and must not be poor. In fact, the church cannot be rich enough,” he said, explaining that the Church’s wealth should remain “institutional” and “transgenerational,” not personal property.
He warned pastors against treating church resources as private possessions, stressing, “Don’t see the church as your property… God is building something bigger than me, bigger than you, bigger than all of us.”
Pastor Otabil also emphasized the importance of education and leadership development. “The church must invest in training,” he said, urging ministers to combine their calling with sound academic and professional preparation.
Calling for greater Christian influence in every sphere of society, he declared, “Don’t cheapen the church. The church is bigger than your level.”
Quoting Isaiah, Micah and Daniel, Pastor Otabil reaffirmed God’s vision that “the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established above all other mountains,” urging believers to build churches that reflect God’s excellence, influence and enduring Kingdom.
