ACCRA, GHANA — Rev. Albert Ocran, Senior Pastor of ICGC New Wine Temple in East Legon, Accra, has urged Christians to reconsider negative perceptions about money, explaining that wealth itself is not sinful but should serve meaningful purposes.

Addressing congregants during an interactive Ask Pastor Day Sunday service on Sunday 11th October 2026, the Ghanaian pastor and leadership mentor responded to a question about Luke 16:9 and the biblical instruction against being unequally yoked with unbelievers.

“Money is not unrighteous. Money is not unrighteous,” he declared.

Rev. Ocran explained that biblical teaching distinguishes the possession of wealth from adopting ungodly values in its pursuit.

“Wealth is God’s provision for the establishment of His kingdom and His purpose,” he stated, referencing Deuteronomy 8:18 and Isaiah 48:17.

He further emphasised that financial blessings should create opportunities for generosity and meaningful relationships rather than selfish accumulation.

“The principle behind that is sharing opportunity,” he explained.

Drawing from personal experience, the pastor observed that individuals who support others during difficult periods sometimes receive unexpected assistance from those same beneficiaries years later.

“I think the secret in that scripture is about being blessed to be a blessing,” he concluded.

His message encourages Christians worldwide to pursue financial progress responsibly while placing generosity, integrity and service at the centre of prosperity.
